Joey’s freelancing career started at San Francisco State University, where he interned for several publications such as Culture Trip and wrote for A-Trak's luxury travel website, Infinite Legroom. After college, Joey eventually freelanced full-time after serving as the News Editor for Pasadena Now. He later joined What Now Media Group and continues to write about new restaurant openings across North America.

Joey has been with What Now Media Group since 2021. He began writing about new restaurants in Los Angeles and has since expanded his coverage across North America. His coverage includes Chicago, Jacksonville, Memphis, Charlotte, Columbus, Charleston, Detroit, Nashville, Phoenix, Sacramento, and San Diego. This list continues to grow as Joey helps What Now expand into new areas, with recent launches in Toronto and Montreal.

When Joey is not focusing on writing about food, he can be found at a local concert or covering the music scene elsewhere. Over the past decade, he has contributed to several music publications, including RIFF Magazine, The Idiot Check, and Todaba. In his spare time, Joey writes about current events and topics related to the music industry. Currently, he is working on an official how-to guide for attending concerts, raves, and music festivals, known as The First Timers Club.
