About Me
Joey Reams was born and raised in San Diego, where he graduated from Point Loma High School. He later moved to San Francisco to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University, specializing in Print and Online Journalism, with a minor in Music History. While attending the university, Joey served as the News Editor for the school's paper, Golden Gate Xpress. During this time, he received an award from the SFSU Journalism Department for 'Excellence in Investigative Journalism.'
Since graduating, Joey has contributed to various publications, interviewed hundreds of business owners and musicians, and attended countless restaurant openings and concerts. Some of his favorite concerts include performances by Beyoncé, Flume, Vampire Weekend, The Postal Service, Jay-Z, Mac Miller, Temple of the Dog, and Twenty One Pilots (at Hodad's). Joey is also passionate about music festivals and has attended nearly 30 to date. When he isn't at a local restaurant or watching his favorite bands, he enjoys exploring different cities.
In 2021, Joey decided to leave San Diego and travel the country in a van. This thrilling experience took him through 26 states. During his travels, Joey met many kind-hearted people, enjoyed delicious food, and visited numerous national monuments. It was one of the most exciting times of his life; however, after a couple of years, he realized that his heart belonged in San Diego. Following a family tragedy, being caught in a tornado storm, and witnessing some harsh realities of life, Joey returned to San Diego and eventually sold the van.
Today, Joey is living in San Diego with his girlfriend, Lindsey, and her dog, Appa. When they're not working from home, the three of them enjoy exploring San Diego's various hikes, trying new restaurants, and attending annual events.
